Antarctic Scientists
Terry Palmer works at the
Harte Research Institute
(HRI), part of
Texas A&M University - Corpus
Christi, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Terry, along with three
other researchers Andrew Klein, Steve Sweet and Daniel Russell are
conducting a research project that involves monitoring the effects
of human activities at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Andrew,
Steve and Daniel work at Texas A&M
University in College Station.
Andrew
Klein is an
Associate Professor in Geography at Texas A&M University in
College Station. Andrew specializes in the use of computers for
mapping (Geographic Information Systems) and to analyze images
of the cold regions of the world to study snow and glaciers
(remote sensing). This is his twelfth trip to Antarctica and he
is the leader of our field party and a co-principal investigator
of the project.

Terry
Palmer (terry.palmer@tamucc.edu)
is a researcher studying water quality and benthic ecology at
HRI, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Benthic ecology is
the study of organisms in the sea floor, such as bivalves,
snails, shrimp and worms. Terry is originally from Papamoa, New
Zealand and this is the ninth time that he has traveled to
Antarctica.

Steve
Sweet is a
research scientist at Texas A&M University in College Station,
Texas. Steve has conducted research both on the Antarctic
Peninsular and at McMurdo Station. This is his thirteenth trip
to Antarctica. Steve is especially talented at growing his
beard.

Daniel
Russell (dqrussell@gmail.com)
is a Master's student in the Geography Department at Texas A&M
University in College Station, Texas. This is his first time
traveling to Antarctica.
