Antarctic Scientists

Terry Palmer who works at the Harte Research Institute (HRI), part of Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, in Corpus Christi, Texas is traveling with two other researchers Andrew Klein and Steve Sweet to conduct research on monitoring the effects of human activities at Palmer Station, Antarctica.  Andrew and Steve work at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Andrew Klein (klein@geog.tamu.edu) is an Associate Professor in Geography at Texas A&M University in College Station. Andrew specializes in the use of computers for mapping (Geographic Information Systems) and to analyze images of the cold regions of the world to study snow and glaciers (remote sensing).  This is his fifteenth trip to Antarctica and he is the leader of our field party and the Project's principal investigator.

Terry Palmer (terry.palmer@tamucc.edu) is a researcher studying water quality and benthic ecology at HRI, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  Benthic ecology is the study of organisms in the sea floor, such as bivalves, snails, shrimp and worms.  Terry is originally from Papamoa, New Zealand and this is the eleventh time that he has traveled to Antarctica.
Steve Sweet
(s-sweet@tamu.edu) is a research scientist at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.  Steve has conducted research both on the Antarctic Peninsular and at McMurdo Station.  This is his sixteenth trip to Antarctica.  Steve is especially talented at growing his beard.
